MINUTES OF THE ALLIED PARTNERS MEETING
September 24, 2013

PRESENT: Jack Tiffany, Shirley Robbins, Marge Lyford, Sue Bridson, Linda Ketcham, and Laurel Bastian, visitor.

The meeting was called to order by Jack, in absence of Eileen Dresser.

INTRODUCTIONS were made. Laurel Bastian told us about the agency she represents; The Fair Housing Center of Greater Madison, a nonprofit civic rights enforcement agency working against housing discrimination. She would like to share information about the agency with congregations.

MINUTES of the August 27 meeting were approved as presented.

TREASURER’S REPORT by Jack Total income during August ($417.99) was lower than normal. Report accepted as presented.

WELLNESS CENTER : No report

EVICTION PREVENTION: Linda reported that since January, seventy eight families were helped by the two eviction prevention projects that are managed by MUM, Allied Partners and the Unitarian congregation. A problem is that low income properties are continuing to be lost through gentification.

ALLIED COOP; No report

CONTACTING MEMBER CONGREGATIONS: Linda suggested that we consider (1) creating a membership form that they could send in send in with their check. Would include designation of funds and request for a contact person and (2) devise a simpler way to donate to the different projects. Linda volunteered to write a draft letter and forms.

OTHER CONCERNS: In response to a request last month to see the old video about the video, perhaps those who are interested could come earlier (3:30) next month to view it.

NEXT MEETING: *Special meeting Tuesday, October 8 at 4 PM to consider possible changes in how to donate funds and finalize mailing to be sent to member congregations.*
