MINUTES OF THE ALLIED PARTNERS MEETING
August 27, 2013

PRESENT: Eileen Dresser, Marge Lyford, Erica Anderson, Sue Bridson, Jack Tiffany, Gloria M. Farr, and Ruth Hoffman Hein.

MINUTES of July meeting.
- The meeting was described as being rather brief and uneventful. No minutes were taken. Erica Anderson. Jack Tiffany, Selena Pettigrew, Victoria Harris, Eileen Dresser, Gloria M. Farr, and Barry Hayes attended.

TREASURER’S REPORT by Jack
-Clarification re $150 fund from Friends Meeting. It was intended to be used to provide noon lunches for neighborhood children when Boy’s and Girl’s Club not providing them. Since the need no longer seems to exist, it was decided that the fund will be used for the community meal in September, with the exception of $47 which was allocated to JFF to provide refreshments for their open house.
- Dianne Stevens made $275 for Eviction Prevention at a Middleton event.
-Income was unusually high for July. Total income for the month, $4,434.33.
-Eileen was questioned re Food Pantry funds not including information on the source of the income. Eileen will work on reporting the sources.

WELLNESS CENTER by Gloria
-A barbecue was held for the Welcomers. Despite some confusion over who was invited, it was an enjoyable event.
-Re-connected with the Mother’s in the Neighborhood group to participate in a hands on training about diabetes and how to present future trainings within the Allied community.
-The senior pasta health educational session was sponsored by the Pastoral Department of the Oakwood West foundation. The focus was on building a safer community through increased participation of neighborhood residents.

EVICTION PREVENTION by Erica.
-The funds have helped six families with rent in the past month and two with MG&E bills.
-Some residents are involved in cleaning apartments
-Landlords are not obligated to rent to Section 8 families.
-Recently noticed more postings of available jobs.

FOOD PANTRY by Eileen
-Has recently received a new shipment of food.
-Pleased that three men volunteered to help unload the truck.
-Still need volunteers on Wednesdays.

JFF by Erica
-Hosted an open house of the JFF building last week for neighborhood residents. Many organizations took part and "It was a wonderful gathering!"

ALLIED DUNN’S MARSH NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION by Gloria
-The brotherhood group is continuing to meet every Wednesday. The director of the Neighborhood Intervention Program is helping.
-There has been a decline in participation possibly because of the decrease of funding.
-A neighborhood gathering is planned for the second week of September.

CONTACTING CONGREGATIONS
-One half of the old DVD materials could still be used
-Will put on agenda for September meeting.
