MINUTES OF THE ALLIED PARTNERS MEETING
March 26, 2013
PRESENT: Susan Corrado, Gloria Menadier-Farr, Selena Pettigrew, Sue Bridson, Pam Gates, Jack Tiffany, Barry Hayes, Shirley Robbins, Ruth Hoffman Hein & Marge Lyford
TREASURERS REPORT by Jack
- Reports of income and expenses for January and February were distributed.
Jack clarified that $150 in Special Projects was contributed by Friends for summer meals for kids.
Barry Hayes, treasurer for the Neighborhood Association has not received acknowledgement from MUM for the $900 contribution to the association. He will check with MUM.
Susan will distribute the most recent directions on how to contribute to AP projects.
EVICTION PREVENTION
-Ryan is now working only part time in Allied Neighborhood. Concerned about residents whose gas and electricity has been turned off due to non-payment.
ALLIED COMMUNITY COOP by Susan
-Now negotiating with a landlord for possible space for resident activities and office
space. Hope to have open house on Wednesday May 15, at 4PM.
-Also working with residents to start up a apple cider slushes cart.
-Reported that MAP is now located at a Odana Road site and having classes.
NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION by Selena
-Attendance at monthly meeting improving.
-At a community meal on March 22, honored Alderman Brian Soloman for his services to the neighborhood.
-Planning to have a community meal every other month. The May meal will be sponsored by a labor union.
-The solar energy project is moving along.
-The association was congratulated on the newest issue of the community newsletter.
-After two years of effort, the community kiosk is up!
CONTACTING LOCAL CHURCHES
-Instead of waiting for a new video to be produced, Sue suggested doing new photos or
using the old video with an updated written script instead of the recorded narration.
-Jack can make copies of the video. The Co-op has a laptop presenters can use. Jack
will send copies of the script to Selena, Susan, Pam and Ruth.
-A list was compiled of churches to call about their interest in having a presentation
about Allied Partners.
WELLNESS CENTER by Gloria
-Gloria apologized for her absences due to her mother’s illness. Her condition is now
stable. She will send a report to those on the Allied Partner email list.
-Concern expressed about the freshness and lack of variety of Fresh Mobile produce. Gloria and Selena will make suggestions for improvement.
-Hoping for a certified nursing assistant neighborhood volunteer.
